Key Rules of Rummy

Objective
Arrange your 13 cards into valid sets (three or four cards of the same rank, different suits) and sequences (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit). You need at least two sequences, including one pure sequence (no joker), to declare a win.
Dealing
Each player receives 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck (or two decks for more players). One card is placed face-up to start the discard pile, with the rest forming the draw pile.
Gameplay
On your turn, draw a card from the draw pile or discard pile, then discard one card from your hand. The aim is to form valid combinations while minimizing points from ungrouped cards.
Jokers
Printed jokers and a randomly selected wild card (e.g., 7 of Spades) can substitute for any card in a set or sequence, except in a pure sequence.
Declaring
Once you’ve formed all your cards into valid sets and sequences (with at least one pure sequence), discard your final card and declare your hand to win the game.
Scoring
Face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10 points each, Aces are 10, and numbered cards match their value. Ungrouped cards count against you; the winner scores zero.

Tips for Success

Mastering Rummy takes practice and strategy. Here are some expert tips to boost your game: Prioritize forming a pure sequence early to avoid high penalties. Observe your opponents’ discards to guess their strategy and block their moves. Discard high-value cards like Kings or Aces if they don’t fit your plan, reducing your points if you lose. Keep an eye on jokers—they’re game-changers in forming sets. Finally, stay flexible—adapt your strategy as the game unfolds.
